Why Green Trees?
Join us in choosing green natural trees for your holiday celebration. Our green trees make O2 for the planet every day- This year return the favor and make a natural tree part of this vow.
- Each acre of Christmas trees makes enough O2 for 18 people for one year.
- Trees make O2 naturally by converting carbon dioxide.
- An average tree farm has 1200-1400 trees per acre.
- Christmas tree farms make quite a bit of fresh air for all of us!
- Christmas trees are a sustainable crop; they’re replanted as soon as weather permits.
- Trees provide habitat for wildlife during their lifespan, and offer natural compost after the season.
Our Vow
Share our commitment to the planet and to your family- Vow to buy a green natural tree this year. That’s how we all can work together to keep Christmas green. Moving towards a life of sustainability isn’t only about changing out light bulbs- Buying a green tree means you make a conscious decision to support your own tiny carbon-conversion green machine.
Hart Tree Farm
Today, our family farm makes up 42 acres with 22 acres of Noble Fir Christmas trees and over 14 acres of mixed-species timber. The farm is in Beavercreek, close to Portland, in the foothills of the Oregon Cascades. From the farm Mt. Hood is clearly visible to the east, and Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams to the north. We get abundant natural rainfall, and a spring-fed stream meanders through one corner of the farm. Some resident bird species include peregrine falcon, red-tail hawk, raven, wood dove, northern flicker, goldfinch, robin and varied thrush, Stellar’s jay, both barn and violet-green swallows, nuthatches and more. We have lots of assorted wildlife, including many beneficial insects.

About Bill Hart
The property was purchased by Bill Hart in 1974 as a retirement project. Bill grew up in the woods around Poulsbo, Washington, on his Finnish grandparent’s farm. Bill’s farm started out as pasture and timber, and in 1979 he planted his first crop of Douglas Fir Christmas trees. He loved working the farm with his kids and grandsons. The farm is now owned by Bill’s daughter Becky and her husband Kevin Palo. Becky and Kevin share a love for land stewardship and for the off-beat.
